Private browser-side processing
FrameFlow opens the selected file with a temporary browser object URL and draws frames to a canvas at the chosen timestamps. The local video content is not sent to the Instagram extraction API.
Generated frames remain in the current page session until you start a new extraction, replace the source or close the page.
Choose useful extraction settings
Use a 0.5 or 1-second interval for fast action, 2 seconds for short ordinary clips, and 5 or 10 seconds for longer videos or first-pass storyboards.
Choose PNG for crisp text and graphics, JPEG for smaller photographic frames, or WebP for compact web-ready images. Full HD respects the source and cannot recreate detail missing from a low-resolution video.
Current browser safeguards
The current local workflow accepts a file up to 250 MB and generates no more than 24 preview frames in one run. A browser-created ZIP is limited to 64 MB.
These are product safeguards rather than claims about the maximum capability of your device. For a long video, choose a wider interval so the 24 candidates cover more of the timeline.
What happens inside the browser
After you choose a file, FrameFlow reads its duration and dimensions through the browser’s video element. For each selected timestamp, the frame is drawn to an off-screen canvas and encoded as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
Temporary object URLs are revoked when output is replaced or the page is closed. The generated images remain available only in the current session unless you download them.
Browser compatibility
MP4 with H.264 video is the safest choice across modern browsers. A .mp4, .mov, or .webm extension describes a container, not necessarily a codec the current browser can decode.
HEVC/H.265 support varies especially between browsers and operating systems. If the original does not play in the browser, convert an authorised copy to H.264 MP4 with a trusted desktop application before extraction.
Quality and output dimensions
The Full HD setting keeps smaller source dimensions and constrains larger output to the implemented maximum width. It cannot reconstruct detail lost through focus, motion blur, low capture resolution, or prior compression.
PNG avoids further lossy image compression. JPEG and WebP create smaller photographic files, which can be more practical for sharing and web use.
Review before downloading
The gallery selects generated candidates by default. Deselect repeated or unusable images before creating a ZIP, or download an individual frame directly.
Inspect text, faces, edges, and motion at full size. A wide first-pass interval followed by a more focused rerun is usually easier than generating many near-identical images.
Responsible local use
Local processing improves privacy for files already on your device, but you remain responsible for permission, copyright, confidentiality, and appropriate storage of downloaded frames.
Close the page after sensitive work and use an approved offline workflow for regulated or highly confidential media when organisational policy requires it.
